Posted March 10, 2020 06:06:49Sony has confirmed that it is working on a PS4 wireless headset that it hopes will be “more powerful than the Oculus Rift”.

The PlayStation VR headset is now available to pre-order for $299 and has already sold over 1 million units worldwide.

However, in a post on its PlayStation VR blog, the company said that the headset’s battery capacity was less than that of a standard PS4, and it’s also not as lightweight as a standard Xbox One.

The post also confirmed that the new headset would be available in “several colours” but did not give any details.

“We’re very excited to bring this headset to market and bring it to you in several different colours, which will hopefully make it a more affordable and practical option for everyone,” it wrote.

“The battery capacity is more than the Rift but less than a standard PlayStation 4, and the weight is comparable to the Xbox One.”

In an interview with Wired magazine, PlayStation VR chief executive Hideo Kojima said the headset is more powerful and lighter than the VR headset Oculus launched in December last year.

“For those of you who are using VR headsets, you’re probably thinking, ‘Oh, that’s disappointing, I was hoping this was going to be much, much better,'” he said.

“That’s not the case.

We think that this headset is really powerful, and there’s a lot of room for improvement.””

We have to think of what will be good and what will make it work for everyone.

We’re currently working on all those things.”

The PS4 Pro, which is coming later this year, will be able to run games at a much higher resolution and frame rate, which could mean a more immersive experience.

The PSVR is also designed to be more efficient.

It can use just three USB-C ports instead of four, for example, and will support the Oculus Touch controller for more precise finger tracking.

“So there’s just a lot more power, a lot less power consumption,” Kojimas said.

“And so you get more VR.

And the reason for that is because you’re running VR at a higher frame rate and the PS4 will have more power than the Xbox.””

It’s not a huge amount, but it’s significant.

We have to make sure we’re using all the power we can to make this device work.”
